What a wonderful world
We created a new version of “What a Wonderful World”. We used different adjectives to describe the world around us. We then performed our new song in KS1 and KS2 assemblies.

PE kit consists of navy blue shorts, a sky blue polo shirt and pumps or trainers.
PE will be on Monday for both 3MS and 3TS
Please try and read with your child every night. Really focus on asking questions about their book as this will help them with their reading comprehension.
Please also spend time every night going over times tables with your child. There are lots of fun, free online resources that you can use.
We will keep you updated on the exciting things we get up to every day via our chatter pages and through our school app.

Within our history lesson, we looked at the first stage of the Stone Age. We have then applied what we know to our art lessons where we used different techniques to sketch with charcoal and create some cave art.

Thank you!

We finished off our second prototype today for our DT unit. We labelled our work with key vocabulary and then created some designs to stick onto our arms.
166
We are reading Into the Forest by Anthony Browne. The children are enjoying looking at his fantastic illustrations and seeing what they can spot. The pictures tell the story and keep us guessing about what happens next.
177
We have used today to compile a list of words that personify the sun – both human actions and emotions. We started constructing sentences with these words so we were ready for our next lesson.
20
We have written scripts for two characters in our book. We have used our inference skills to create a conversation that might have happened between them. Then we had some children perform their scripts to the class.
199
To think about those who have lost their lives, we created some rhyming poetry. We based our poems on poppy fields, just like our art work.
196
Year 3 have started Remembrance Day by focusing on some art work that uses paint, fabric and stitching. When they are dry we’ll add some stitching on them to add colour and texture.
175
Today we had lots of fun working in groups to create a dance and role play as our character dancing in the rays of sun from our new book in English.
We listened to music about the sun and got into character.

Starting our new book, we met a character that loves the sun light stroking her skin as she dances. We used this image to create our own to show how the sun makes the girl feel.

To finish off this term, we played a game of golden ball. We continued with throwing, catching and how to move in team games.
181
Great effort on our final piece in art. Painting with scissors has been a great skill Year 3 have gained over the last term. No pencil markings, just free hand cutting. Everyone has become more confident with this technique and we have some amazing collages of some Ancient Egyptian art work.
161
We are planning our instructions for how the Ancient Egyptians would have mummified a body to preserve it.
145
We had a wonderful workshop this morning to celebrate Diwali and reinforce the work we have already done in Hinduism. We listened to a story, danced and created lanterns.
130
We all became archaeologists for the afternoon excavating and finding ancient Egyptian artefacts. We spoke about what we learn from the things that can be found, which are thousands of years old.
121
We have looked at sketching parts of a chosen picture to focus in on different sections. We are getting ready for next week, when we’ll be recreating our chosen picture using the painting with scissors technique.
133
We had a great session with Loti, talking about how we can be different but are still all humans. We spoke about accepting each other and living alongside one another, which can make us stronger.
128
Today, we looked at items that are used to create a puja tray. We talked about why these items are important to Hindus and how they are used in daily worship. The children worked very hard and remembered lots of new words.
153
Great work using Matisse’s style to recreate some Egyptian pictures. We only used scissors and glue. Our cutting skills are getting better, well done Year 3.
24
What a super day out! We mummified a body, spoke about what the Ancient Egyptians would have done with dead bodies and went on a scavenger hunt to find information out about the Egyptians.
169
Thank you so much for all your donations towards MacMillan Cancer Support. Children had a lovely time – a lot of cake was enjoyed : )

Year 3 had a great session this week practising our throwing and applying it into game situations.

Some boys and girls have worked incredibly hard to be more secure with numbers up to 10 and then 20. Using practical resources they were able to create 10 in different ways.
