Nursery
Welcome to Nursery
A very warm welcome to Nursery. We strive to provide an extremely positive environment and first experience of school for your child and highly value our parental and carer partnerships with you.
In Nursery we support the children at the beginning of their school journey here at Smithdown. The children develop key play and communication skills including sharing, turn taking and forming friendships. We focus on enhancing the children’s vocabulary through a wide variety of books, rhymes and stories, along with developing key mathematical skills through number songs, counting and practical activities involving shape and measure. We share a wide range of books over the year to promote an enjoyment of reading and early writing. We promote each area of the EYFS curriculum through a wide variety of activities both indoors and outdoors throughout the day and our curriculum is designed to encourage creativity and independence. We also enrich the children’s real-life experiences through trips and visits throughout the year. We actively encourage and value our parental partnerships by inviting you to join us for stay and learn sessions, outdoor activities and workshops during the year.
