86This afternoon Year 4 have continued to build on their understand of how Pixels are used. Children used a website to recreate an image in pixel form. Children created it on paper first and then used excel to start to recreate their image.
41This afternoon Year 4 have been converting a mosaic into a pixel-style image. Children had to work out how they could convert the different sections into a 14 x 14 grid to ensure their design stayed symmetrical, children designed it onto a piece of paper ready to create a digital version next week.

A massive thank you to all parents and children who donated money to Alder Hey. The children on the school council were very lucky to be invited down to Alder Hey for a cheque presentation.
The money raised is going to help brighten the lives of children and their families, all over the country, who require the help of Alder Hey.
Year 4 generated questions and predicted events around Roman artefacts.
28Some AMAZING entries for the Merseyside Police competition! Children have worked hard creating lovely pieces of work with great messages as well. Well done to everyone who has submitted already. Last day tomorrow (Friday 13th September).
109Year 4 continued to look at how we can use repeat loops to benefit code. They focused on being able to use a repeat loops to get two separate characters to move in different ways, one moving when the mouse is moving and the other to move by itself and change direction when hitting a wall.
30On Thursday afternoon children continued to create programs using repeat loops. This program consisted of using repeat and forever loops to allow a pattern to be created using the pen tool on Scratch.

28As part of their sound topic, Y4 have been investigating which mediums sound travels through. We did this by experimenting with string telephones. We had so much fun talking to our friends on our telephones but only some of them passed the message through!

We are having so much fun making our Diwali lanterns with rangoli patterns.
Year 4 had such a great morning at our Diwali workshop. We wore some traditional Hindu clothing, learned some traditional dance, and even got to paint and create our own diya lanterns.

Yesterday we created artwork using a colour wheel to discover complimentary colours. We then created mosaic patterns inspired by Gaudi’s Trencadis technique. The media we used was oil pastel.

Yesterday we used pictorial artefacts to investigate a mystery person. We generated questions and then answered them using the internet. Finally some children were hot-seated in role.
Year 4 designed their Roman inspired mosaics using technology before creating their own paper version.
We’re very excited to create our mosaics next week using tiles.
10For Chinese New Year we have had a great time making snakes and performing a dragon dance!
Y4 have been busy learning all about human and animal teeth this half term. We decided to investigate the effect different drinks had on our teeth. We discovered some shocking conclusions!
Y3 & 4 were lucky enough to work with students from LJMU to learn about sustainability.. We made bracelets out of plastic bags.
Today Y4 explored the process of digestion by replicating their own model. It was a messy activity and we learned so much!
8We explored scamming, what is meant by the word phishing and identified how to spot phishing scams such as spelling mistakes, suspicious email addresses, and personal information requests.

This half term Year 4 have been focusing on what pixels are and pixel artwork in their computing lessons. Children looked at how the amount of pixels can impact the quality of images, how we can use binary code to create different pixel images, explored how to create pixel images and used their knowledge of excel to create a pixel based image of a mosaic that they created.
6A great morning exploring the relationship between multiples and three and multiples of six.
7We made a ceramic mosaic tile in groups using glass tesserae. Our designs are stunning!
We found patterns within each multiplication table and common multiples!
On February 21st, it was International Mother Language Day. To celebrate, we have been learning words and phrases in different languages. The children have been fantastic teachers.

Y4 have been exploring food chains this afternoon to build on their knowledge of animals and living things.
We had the best morning using drama to learn about early civilisations, with a focus on Baghdad (Early Islamic Civilisations).
Great work from Year 3 and Year 4 boys and girls! They all worked well as a team to play in a 5 a side football competition organised by Everton.
15Thank you to AS Creatives for our workshop this afternoon focusing on Ancient Civilisations.
We worked hard to plan and write a non-chronological report. We worked in groups to write a specific paragraph.
In groups we investigated a mystery object. What was it? What was it used for? Who would have owned and used it?
We learnt about the mythical Kraken and wrote a section of a non- chronological report in groups.
Today we had a visit from Cruella De Vil who wanted to steal all of the Dalmatian puppies, luckily the classes were able to find all 101 of them and saved the school! What an amazing World Book Day 2025.
