We are pleased to have been awarded the GOLD Liverpool Attendance Quality Mark. This recognises the school’s commitment to promoting good attendance, recognising that this is central to raising children’s attainment. We were thrilled that the report noted that: ‘The school’s curriculum is engaging and exciting and this means that children want to be in school; they don’t want to miss out on exciting activities,’ and that ‘The strong inclusive ethos and culture of the school supports good attendance.’

Every week at Smithdown, we hold an attendance assembly where we announce the class or classes whose attendance was the highest for the previous week.  The winning class is presented with a certificate.

We aim for 100% attendance wherever possible.

If your child is unable to attend school, please telephone the school office by 9.30 am on the first day of absence. If attendance falls below our expected 97%, parents may receive a letter or invited in to discuss attendance with a member of the school’s leadership team so we can work together to make improvements. Please see our policies below for more information.
